  5. @MrNapoli360 Calabrian (or Southern Italian) ... identified as "Calabrese" by Australian Italian friends btw. I can't see snooty Milanese or other Nord Italians identifying with the Parmiggiano humour at all .... and it belongs to the Southern Italian diaspora (of the 1950s to early 70s) experience - be it in Toronto, Montreal, Sydney or Melbourne. Their children and grandchildren have moved on from the inner city ethnic experience I think to other things.

  6. @johnrenouf1 What do you mean Canadian/Calabrese? Sono un italiano. No una Canadiani.

  7. Grow up with Italian parents in a one bedroom apartment on Jameson Avenue in Parkdale in Toronto and you remember never running out of those rubber gaskets for the Bialetti espresso maker 'cause spares would be hanging on a nail on the kitchen wall.

  12. Actually what Rosie Parmiggiano refers to when she says "manga gomma insite!!" is her Canadian/Calabrese spin on Italian - manca gomma (missing rubber ring) inside - or in other words as per the original stage skit her screw together espresso coffee pot is miising the rubber ring inside ... e basta un terramoto di caffe!! Not a fancy espresso macchine or chewing gum at all.
